B is for Buddy Reads!

Some of you may be staring at this going, “What is a buddy read?”. Well, let me explain that. A buddy read is a book that you read with a friend. It’s sort of a two-person book club, but you don’t read the same things every month. You pick a book and you both start it, reading it at the same time, then compare your thoughts at the end. 😀 See, like a mini book club!

I’ve seen this done many different ways. Some people do them over books that are already out. Some people consider if you’ve both read the book at the same time, even unintentionally, it’s a buddy read. Or, if you both have it on your TBR list, reading it at the same time… again, buddy read. Another scenario would be that you both go over your TBR and pick a book. The last one I can think of is the ARC buddy reads, these are a bit rare because it’s not often you get the same ARC as a friend.

Gary and I tend to have our own “buddy” system when it comes to books. I can’t exactly call it a “buddy read” but then it is, in its own way. There are certain series (Which I will list below.) that I consider our buddy reads. To be fair to the tall guy (AKA Gary), I (the shrimp girl) typically pick out books on a whim, I then throw them at his head. (Not literally, at least, I haven’t yet.) Usually, I’ll gush about a book to him, or tell him to read the synopsis. For most of the series I’m going to list, it’s basically been us reading them at the same time. I’ve drug him into more than a few of them though and he hasn’t complained yet. (These are not ALL of them.)
