What Happend to WHR?

on

Hey guys,

No, I’m not speaking from the beyond and WHR isn’t dead. It’s just been idle. Let me try to sum this up.

My computer died. No, really. My motherboard is completely fried and that’s just one of the reasons why I put WHR on the back burner for awhile. All of my WHR info is on that now dead computer. Banners, everything I’ve made, signs, etc. Thankfully, I have the color codes I use for the backgrounds and what not memorized and WHR can run without me making new things. Plus, WordPress is amazing in saving images and things you use. I should be able to pick up where I left off when I get a new laptop.

So, it’s been five months, and no I haven’t been sick for all of them. Also, if you follow me on Goodreads, you’ll see that I’ve still been reading. Why haven’t I purchased a new tower or laptop? That’s the million dollar question there. I’ve had emails, I have messages on Facebook. I’ve had people trying to get in contact with me and the simple answer to that is honestly that I haven’t had time. Again, really.

Read on if you’re interested.

Remember me talking about being in the ER for heartburn? Well, I had to have an UGI test done along with the ECG. The first one is a fancy way of saying I had to swallow berry flavored chalk (barium) and let them take xrays. If you never have to do this, consider yourself lucky. The second is an out patient procedure where they actually knocked me out, (Okay, let’s not be dramatic here, they put me to sleep.) and stuck a tube down my throat so that they could see into my stomach.

Needless to say, July and August were not good months. I was miserable between having a chest cold, I slept a lot, I was at the doctors office multiple days and all of that. Then the computer crashed in there somewhere.

Toward the end of September I got a phone call from my cousin. In all honestly, it was an SOS with a “Come visit.” attached. Why SOS? Because my cousin is one heck of an amazing baker for Smallcakes. (Yes, you can Google them. If you’ve ever been to one, this is totally me high fiving you.) However, she needed help, and I needed out of the house. So, off I went on an almost three month long visit.

Yes, I’ve been baking and making ice cream for the last three months. The thing about baking that I never knew before this adventure, your hands really hurt on a daily basis. This is no joke. (It’s been a few weeks and I still cannot pop my right thumb.) The last thing I wanted to do was type. Bakers make some fantastic things, but a lot of effort goes into it, far more than people realize. That being said, the job is so much fun, especially if you’re like me, where you love learning and getting to be creative.

That’s really it in a nutshell. I got home a few days before Thanksgiving and I’m just finally getting settled back in. I’m going back to my transcription work, so the reviews will be coming as I’ll have more “home” time. This will almost be like starting from scratch, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed I have things organized sooner rather than later.

Oh! The new laptop is still a few weeks off, also. I’m torn between getting a desktop or a laptop, and I may just end up getting both. Not to mention, bills, y’all. 😛 In the meantime, when I’m not on the dinosaur laptop working on transcripts, I’ll be reading and trying to get reviews up. (Because I have to rewrite close to ten of them. LE SIGH.)

Anyway, if you read all this, thanks for hanging in there!

  2. So happy that you’re back Amber! I definitely hope for a better 2018 for you. Spending 3 months baking is fun but it also means a lot of work, I worked for a while on a bakery a few years ago. 😉
